Soft Tissue Therapy/Sports Massage

Soft Tissue Therapy & Sports Massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the body’s soft tissues (including muscles, tendons & ligaments) to improve health and overall well-being, aid recovery from injury, promote healing and alleviate pain. This is carried out through a combination of massage which works through the layers of muscles as required  and other advanced techniques (e.g. Soft Tissue Release & Muscle Energy Technique) that help the soft tissues to recover.

You don’t have to be a sports person to benefit from Soft Tissue Therapy & Sports Massage. It is a great way to help reduce any muscular tension that is felt, improve flexibility or deal with pain or injury that is experienced. Soft Tissue Therapy & Sports Massage can also be used to reduce the effect of previous injuries that may be impacting your body’s ability to heal or move properly.

General benefits include (but not limited to):

  • Speed up recovery from injuries, accidents or surgery

  • Reduce chronic pain conditions

  • Improving range of movement and sporting performance

  • Reducing stress/anxiety and improving mental and physical relaxation

  • Correct muscular imbalances

At the start of the session, a confidential health history will be completed. I will ask a number of questions about the injury/pain/condition that you are presenting with so that I can use the best approach and technique to help you. If required, I will also carry out testing/ postural assessment so that I can fully evaluate how your soft tissues are functioning and affecting you.

During the treatment session, a variety of massage styles and other techniques are individually tailored to help alleviate your presenting issues. I am able to work through the layers of muscles, from shallow to deep tissue depending on what is required and where the issues are located.

After the treatment session has finished, I will advise on suitable exercises and techniques that can be carried out at home which will further help to reduce pain and muscular tension and continue to carry on the benefits of the treatment session.

If you are uncertain whether you could benefit from Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy or have queries regarding an existing condition, please feel free to get in touch with me via the 'Contact Me' page to discuss. Any personal information supplied is kept strictly confidential.
